Regulation
Pianos sound better when tuned at proper pitch. It is important for a child’s developing ear to hear individual tones at their correct pitch when learning to play piano. (This applies to late starters too!) To keep your piano stable it should be tuned twice a year.
Most repairs can be done in your home including replacing broken strings, hammer shanks, glue joints, loose centre pins, worn out action cloths and pedal repairs. Feel free to contact Chris for more information on your specific repair needs.
If your piano has not been tuned within the past two years, it may require a pitch adjustment (sort of a “pre-tuning”) in order to bring it back to it’s correct pitch and increase stability. This can be determined and discussed at the time of the appointment.
In order to compensate for wear, use and humidity, your piano needs to be regulated periodically, which includes making adjustments to the action and keys. A piano that is properly regulated plays consistently and evenly across the keyboard which can help the music student to develop an even touch.
Rebuilding
An assessment can determine if your piano is a good candidate for rebuilding. Rebuilding a piano can give a new life and much added value to your treasured instrument. “Worn out” doesn’t have to mean “thrown out”! To see the image gallery click here.
